The Surry Hills Festival will be taking on a new look for 2010, while its permanent home, Prince Alfred Park, is having a facelift. Surry Hills Festival, a picnic in the parks, will spread its entertainment stages through the parks and green spaces surrounding Crown Street, Surry Hills.
Think intimate, picnic style, relaxed vibe ... with stalls set amidst the sights and sounds of the entertainment stages.
In 2010, both Shannon Reserve (Crown St) and Ward Park (Devonshire St) will be home for Festival stages and market areas.
A very limited number of stall sites will be available - featuring an featuring an array of local designers, vintage fashion, hand crafted artwork, eco and fair trade products as well as delicious foods from around the globe.
The Festival is produced by the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre, as a major Fundraiser for the Centre's community services. The Centre uses the funds raised for a range of community activities including low cost childcare, information resources, English classes, multicultural services, advocacy and information and referral services.
Surry Hills experiences a rich and diverse culture, and this is showcased in the range and creativity of our festival stalls. As stall places are very limited for the 2010 Festival, stallholders will be asked to complete an Expression of Interest form, briefly outlining the goods being sold and other relevant information. Successful applicants will be notified in February 2010, and forwarded an application and payment form.
